Le Berger (the Shepherd)

IGP Méditerrannée

The Countess and the Shepherd:

This is a beautiful story we love to believe is true, one that reflects the rich diversity of the land and its people—a heritage we proudly honor. This spirit of diversity is expressed through our carefully selected grape varieties, distinct terroirs, and thoughtful winemaking techniques.

The Sérine grape is a rare and ancient red variety, often considered the ancestor of Syrah, yet it stands out with its own unique characteristics. Today, it is primarily cultivated through massal selection—a method of propagation that multiplies vines selected for their exceptional traits. This approach preserves the authenticity of the grape while better adapting it to local conditions.

Unlike Syrah, which is widely grown and well-known, Sérine produces rarer and sometimes more complex wines, with aromas of dark fruits and spices, and a structure that supports graceful aging. Although genetically close, Sérine brings a distinctive touch that sets it apart from Syrah in the glass.
